KEMI CRAIG’S BLACKSPACE LIBRARY

Keep your eyes open for pop up libraries in select locations in Victoria starting on Sept 12 through to Oct 22. Blackspace Library, led by multi-disciplinary artist Kemi Craig, emerged as a way to share books authored by and about artists of the Black diaspora, Black visual culture, and Black creative expression.

UNEXPECTED: THE LIFE AND ART OF SOPHIE PEMBERTON (1869-1959)

Always interested in biographies of settler women in the Province, I had opportunities to exhibit Sophie Pemberton’s work but never enough time to conduct in-depth research on a woman that I felt had been partially miscast and become stereotyped.

SPACE TO CREATE AT THE AGGV STUDIO: FALL 2023 CLASSES

Our popular Guest Artist series returns with an exciting opportunity. Victoria-based artist, Andy Lou, who will be featured in our upcoming exhibition “Crossing”, will be bringing his skill to the Studio for two separate classes on Chinese brush painting.

COMMUNITY ILLUSTRATIONS FROM SYMBIOSIS

Piles of illustrations have accumulated over the past few months, as encouraged by co-curators Mel Granley and Jaimie Isaac, of all sorts of mushrooms and fungi inspired by the exhibition. Viewers are welcomed to share their artworks to showcase the intrinsic communal feeling inspired by our favourite symbiotic fungal friends.
