Since 1987, the AGGV has had the pleasure of hosting the Art Gallery Paint-In, bringing together local artists, community organizations, and the local community for what has grown to become Vancouver Island’s largest free arts festival, and year after year, it’s our amazing volunteers who are at the heart of it all.

Growing up on Moss Street, the Paint-In was the most wonderful time of the year. On one very special
day each year, my front yard magically transformed from a garden into a colourful, artistic wonderland.
The length of Moss Street, from the waterfront to the Art Gallery, thronged with happy people out for the art, the food, and the festive atmosphere.

More than 170 volunteers worked as a team to make certain the tour runs efficiently. They selected homes, greeted guests, monitored houses during the tour, prepared marketing materials, sold tickets and sponsorships, selected artists and floral arrangers, handled traffic control and security and planned a post-tour reception to thank homeowners for another successful tour.
