CHIEF CURATOR STEVEN MCNEIL REPRESENTS THE AGGV IN LONDON, ENGLAND

In March 2024, AGGV Chief Curator & Director of Collections and Exhibitions, Steven McNeil, spoke at the Curating Prints Seminar in London, UK. The Seminar was co-organized by the Getty Paper Project and the Print Quarterly and brought together curators responsible for collections of prints from around the world.

PAINT-IN VOLUNTEERS – AT THE HEART OF IT ALL

Since 1987, the AGGV has had the pleasure of hosting the Art Gallery Paint-In, bringing together local artists, community organizations, and the local community for what has grown to become Vancouver Island’s largest free arts festival, and year after year, it’s our amazing volunteers who are at the heart of it all. 

A VIEW FROM HERE: REIMAGINING THE AGGV COLLECTIONS

Steven McNeil,  AGGV Chief Curator & Director of Collections and Exhibitions, shares much anticipated news about the Gallery’s permanent collections and the diverse selection of works to be exhibited in two newly dedicated Gallery spaces. The ongoing exhibition, A View From Here: Reimagining the AGGV Collections, will boast a rotating selection of some of the Gallery’s finest pieces.

Hiroshi Yoshida (Japanese, 1876-1950) is well known not only as a master print-maker in the early part of the 20th century, but also as an avid traveler and a proponent of a blending of modern Western and traditional Japanese art techniques.
