With the AGGV currently involved in a multitude of collaborations with artists and organizations, locally and internationally, Family Sunday kicked off the new season with amazing guest artists associated with exhibitions currently on show and in the works.
Originally from Toronto, Estraven is an artist-researcher and educator whose practice involves sound, print, video and installation work.
Family Sunday gives the AGGV a chance to showcase current exhibitions to young visitors and their families through hands-on activities. It also allows us to collaborate with some amazing community members who have so much to share, through their vocation, life experiences and vibrant personalities.
At December’s Family Sunday, we were happy to welcome our guests, artist Farheen Haq and her son Cairo, as well as the CBC’s Khalil Akhtar. Through art exploration, performance and food, our guests explored ideas about what it means to come “home”.
For the first time ever the AGGV’s popular all-ages event, Family Sunday, appeared “pop-up” style at Kidlandia September 14-16.
The text messages came fast and furious starting Wednesday morning inviting participants to the open rehearsal and talk, then gradually over the weekend, revealing the three secret locations for performances of Moving Change by Brendan Fernandes.
