Our popular Guest Artist series returns with an exciting opportunity. Victoria-based artist, Andy Lou, who will be featured in our upcoming exhibition “Crossing”, will be bringing his skill to the Studio for two separate classes on Chinese brush painting.

Our Fall studio classes are in full swing at the Gallery and we have our sights set on exciting classes and programming for the winter session beginning this January. Some changes have come to the AGGV Studio, most notably in the departure of our treasured instructor and Studio Coordinator, Oona McClure.

As many of you will know, we endeavoured to keep our Studio classes running in-person over the past 2 years by implementing some effective and creative safety protocols in accordance with PHO policies. We also enjoyed the flexibility of developing and creating ‘at home’ art experiences through the introduction of virtual workshops. We witnessed that despite all the various challenges arising from the pandemic, the process of making art created wonderful opportunities for renewed connection, playful exploration and a place to ‘be’. A warm thank you is extended to the Studio team who displayed ongoing inventiveness and adaptability and to all participants who joined us as we pivoted our program.

We recognize that making art is rather magical. It provides exceptional opportunities to build skills, create connections, boost confidence, explore ideas, and express feelings. It also offers a space to learn about ourselves and others as well as fostering meaning and inspiration.
