It’s time to sharpen your pencils, gather your supplies, and dive into Fall at the AGGV Studio.
Fall classes in the AGGV Studio are lining up to be some of our most interesting and rewarding classes yet.
Our popular Guest Artist series returns with an exciting opportunity. Victoria-based artist, Andy Lou, who will be featured in our upcoming exhibition “Crossing”, will be bringing his skill to the Studio for two separate classes on Chinese brush painting. Lou will teach one class on landscapes September 28 and one on flowers October 5. All materials will be provided and learners can look forward to learning traditional techniques and modern interpretations. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn and experience this unique painting style.
Kids classes in the Studio have undergone a revamp and a new and exciting curriculum is on tap for our youngest learners. Make Art with Me!, designed for children aged 2-4 and their caregivers, will focus on lots of hands-on art making. Art Jam, for children aged 6-12, will run Saturday mornings and kids can look forward to gallery explorations alongside in depth art making in a variety of mediums.
New for Fall 2023 is our specially designed class for home learners. Alongside our instructor, learners will spend the morning in the Studio and the gallery incorporating curriculum-based arts learning, complimented by a tour of the gallery.
The AGGV Studio is also a space to create for adults and there are many offerings this fall. Get into the spirit of the spooky season with our Gothic Diorama class – designed for ages 15 and up – our instructor will lead students through building a self-standing art piece with the darkly romantic feeling of an 18th century novel.
Adult learners looking to work on their skills will also appreciate our other classes, including painting with acrylic on wood, photocopy and acrylic overlay, and ink resist with gouache.
Finally, back again in the Studio is our popular drop-in program devoted to supporting anyone who wants to create in a social space. Art Social: Drop-in Art Making is free with admission to the gallery and allows art makers to bring in their own projects and work in a supportive, social environment. Our instructor will be on hand to lend guidance, and coffee and treats are also provided.
Registration for Fall 2023 classes opens August 29th at 10 am.
