Calling all teachers and homeschoolers! We are pleased to launch a brand-new Teacher Study Guide in connection with our permanent collection exhibition, A View From Here: Reimagining the AGGV Collection, at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. In addition, our newly revamped School Programs provide exhibition tours with Gallery educators that include a one-hour art-making workshop in conjunction with our study guides for further learning.
We are pleased to feature dynamic artists and engaging hands-on making activities, free to download and use in any classroom in Victoria, across BC and beyond. Teachers will find a selection of learning activities that will provide your class with a preview of the exhibition. The activities require few materials and can be adapted to fit grade level and student needs.
Using art as an unexpected source of storytelling and a means for students to investigate deeply, our study guides offer opportunities to foster visual literacy and to promote critical thinking about the world around us. Students can connect to their own stories and ideas surrounding the artworks in the guide which are also currently on exhibit at the Gallery.
What other stories can we discover? This is the question at the heart of our study guides.
Discover our current exhibitions and gain a deeper understanding of the artworks with an experienced AGGV educator tour guide and workshop. Learn how art connects us all, our environments and our cultures.
Stay tuned for the launch of our study guide and registration for our upcoming winter 2024–25 School Tours coming in the New Year.
