FALL into love with local art! Home is where the heart is, especially as the seasons change and the weather cools. Andria Winters, AGGV Gallery Shop Coordinator, highlights some charming items by talented local artisans in the Gallery Shop that will add warmth to your life this fall.

The shift in seasons reminds us that change is inevitable, that we are constantly evolving and expanding. With change comes the need to feel grounded and rooted at home.

This brings us to the Gallery Shop. We now support close to 200 Canadian artists, and the majority are in our own Island’s backyard. The beautiful West Coast, with its backdrop of trees, ocean, and wildlife, inspires many of the Shop’s local artists! We are delighted to share the work of three, in particular.

Roy Henry Vickers is the newest addition to the shop with his images sharing the West Coast beauty and the stories of his Haida ancestry. Roy merges his traditional Indigenous art with a contemporary style, appealing to a universal spirit. Books, cards, calendars and his newly launched colouring book can all be found in the Shop.

Soma Mo, and her sought after baroque pearls, blends Tibetan silversmithing with modern design to create one-of-a-kinds pieces. Using traditional chasing and engraving techniques, each piece reflects nature, heritage, and quiet luxury, making Soma Mo’s jewellery timeless expressions of individuality.

Donna Kwasnicki is an Island transplant who has embraced the West Coast lifestyle, and allows the ocean views to inform her work. Using multimedia techniques, her original art cards, popular paintings, and thought-provoking images have become a Shop mainstay. Keeping pulse on the art world and choosing to support and give back to her home Gallery, Donna is a consistent volunteer in the shop and loves to share her insights, wisdom, and love of creativity with Gallery Shop guests.
