For nearly five decades, Hornby Island-based artist Ann Newdigate (1934-2023) nurtured a fibre arts practice imbued with critical dialogue through social and political engagement. In September, 2025, renowned Canadian artist Meryl McMaster visited Victoria for a special series of public events held in conjunction with the exhibition, Meryl McMaster: Bloodline at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. Her visit brought a rare opportunity for the local community to engage directly with the artist.
